Thriving Through the Holidays by Jim Rohn


The holidays are upon us; a time of celebration and joy. I love the last days of November through the beginning of the New Year. The pure magic of the holidays is something that I anticipate and enjoy each and every year.

For some though, the holidays have lost the joy and excitement they at other times have had. The pace of life has grown so fast—much faster than those first holidays I remember in my life—that some people don’t enjoy the times they get to spend with their family and friends during what is supposed to be days filled with joy and peace.

Why is that? Probably a lot can be laid at the feet of how fast-paced our times are, but that isn’t all.

I believe our holiday times should be wonderful and filled with lasting and enjoyable moments and memories. So how can we ensure that we come out of the holidays in January with great memories of the past month? Here are six thoughts that will help you experience the holidays the way they were intended to be experienced:

Be Temperate
Holidays can be days of excess for many—too much food, too many cookies and treats. Too much chocolate, schedules that are too busy. One thing that will help you enjoy the holidays is to be temperate. Enjoy the food. Enjoy the treats. Enjoy the busy schedule of activities and parties. But also be disciplined enough to know when to hold back, when to say, “No.” When we go overboard we regret it and lose the opportunity to fully experience that moment. But when we enjoy a little and refrain from going too far, then we can enjoy all that little piece of time has to offer.

Lower Your Expectations
Much of the frustration people experience from the holidays is from setting their expectations too high. They expect too much from friends or family, and when they don’t get what they want, they get frustrated. They expect presents to be perfect and when they aren’t, they get frustrated or disappointed. Instead of having huge expectations this holiday season, just take it as it comes and enjoy what you can. And this brings me to my next point.

Enjoy What You Can and Ignore the Rest
This holiday season, go with an attitude of knowing that things will be what they will be. You can’t control other people or their actions. If a family member pushes the limits of your patience, ignore that and instead focus on how much you can enjoy the time you have with other family members. If things don’t go perfectly—which they won’t—then enjoy what you can and let the rest slide. You will feel a lot better about life if you can take all things a little easier.

Stay Out of Debt
Debt is a killer. It will steal your enjoyment of life. Be sure to stay within your financial boundaries this holiday season. The last thing you want is to start the New Year with a deeper burden financially. Know where you are financially and stay within those limits. You don’t have to impress anyone, just buy gifts that you can afford and express your feelings in the giving of the gift.

Take Time for Yourself
Be sure that, no matter how busy you get, you take time for yourself. Take time to read. Take a long bath if that relaxes you. Take a walk. Spend some time of quiet in front of a fire. Don’t rush through the holidays and sap all of your energy. Your mind and body need to be reenergized, so be sure to take time to do so.

Focus on Your Spiritual Life
Ultimately, no matter what tradition you come from, the holidays are historically days in which we focus on the spiritual. Men and women are created with a natural draw toward spiritual life. However, our culture today tends to stay away from a focus on the spiritual, and that has even crept into our holidays. Be sure to place an emphasis on building your spiritual life and growing in that area. This will help keep you grounded and able to deal with anything that may come your way.

Friends, this time of year is another chance to remember the important truths of life and to enjoy time with dear friends and family.

Fascination is one step beyond interest. Interested people want to know if it works. Fascinated people want to learn how it works.

Learn how to turn frustration into fascination. You will learn more being fascinated by life than you will by being frustrated by it.

I'm on my way to the airport to catch a plane that leaves in 45 minutes. The traffic is not moving one inch. I am now fascinated - not frustrated, but fascinated. But I must admit: it doesn't work every time.

After all my explanations you are not shocked with the truth. Today (2012) you can logically understand that we have inherited a primitive conscience, which became satanic because it is the result of the disorganized formation of the first live conscience before God's existence.

God could differentiate Himself from this evil content after discovering the power of goodness. This is why God sends us messages in dreams.

Thanks to my lessons you also know that no matter how absurd and evil you may be, you can be transformed and saved by obeying God's guidance in dreams. It's not your fault to be a descendant of a demoniac creature. This is an inherited content because you can think.

Therefore, today you can accept the fact that you are basically a demon without revolt.

This acceptance is very important because God needs your cooperation in order to transform your wild conscience into a wise conscience, by eliminating the absurdity existent in your brain. Your absurdity cannot be automatically eliminated by God because consciousness is a process that depends on your participation.

Your conscience must understand many things it ignores thanks to your collaboration. You must help God eliminate your satanic nature by being an obedient patient and student.

The satanic origin of the human conscience is a tragic truth, but the fact that I could discover the bitter truth because I obeyed the divine guidance means that now we can stop living in an unbearable hell. Now we know how to put an end to craziness and terror and find peace.

Now we know that there is a psychotherapeutical treatment that works for everyone and is totally free: the dream messages. Everyone has dreams with important messages sent by God. Everyone can understand these messages and solve all problems, without facing tragedies.

Those who become mentally ill are victims of tragedies, and generate tragedies. They are then imprisoned in asylums or in prisons.

This is a barbarous crime against the victims of their anti-conscience's craziness.

The anti-conscience generates tragedies in our lives with the intention to generate a mental illness and control our behaviour. The victims of tragedies have a violent behaviour because their human conscience was destroyed. They must have the chance to recuperate their human conscience through dream therapy.

They cannot be considered guilty because they were controlled by the primitive side of their conscience when they committed crimes. They were not responsible for their actions because they lost their conscience. The primitive demon they came from acted in the place of their ego.

The anti-conscience pretends to be a human being. However, it is a demon that takes the place of the individual, after destroying his or her human conscience. This is an invisible process for those who observe this individual from outside.

The anti-conscience imitates the behaviour of our human conscience in the beginning, trying to be accepted by the criticism of our conscience. Then, it sends us more absurd thoughts, which seem to be logical and helpful, but are based on a false logic. These ideas will surely destroy our lives and our human conscience.
Their inoffensive appearance is a sneaky trick used by the anti-conscience to mislead our ignorant conscience. Even ideas that seem to be based on goodness are in fact absurd because they are based on false goodness. The anti-conscience can easily mislead our conscience because we are superficial and we don't criticise our thoughts.

People who fail in life are most of the time those who have no definite goals and does not really know what they want in life. The Techniques
 Terms like  self improvement, self growth and self help have today become very popular. There exist today vast number of books on these subjects and as well as many websites.  People are turning inside to find the solution to their problems. People are more and more aware that there is a need  for knowledge, techniques, workshops, lectures, and teachers, who can show them the way to self improvement. People are fully aware now that self improvement and self growth can improve the quality of their life and ultimately lead them to success.

All happens in the  subconscious mind. It is one of the major keys to self improvement and self growth. If you change the contents of the subconscious mind  you change your habits, behaviour and attitudes. This is possible through visualisation, affirmations, meditation and by analysing behaviour and habits. Today Yoga practice is forming a very important part in the ultimate road to self improvement.  More and more people throughout the world are engaging on this Indian path of self improvement.

The process of inner change requires inner work.
Of course you cannot become a swimmer by simply reading books.  The same applies to self improvement. You need to practice and practice. Just like Rome was not built in one day so is the path of self improvement. Nothing will take place instantaneously. It is no secret that the path is paved with discouragement and failure at times but you must keep moving. Motivation, desire, ambition, perseverance and dedication will ultimately lead you to success. Outer and inner resistance and opposition will also be on your way.When you start practising a self improvement program, it is common to encounter inner resistance that comes from your old habits and from your subconscious mind, and also resistance and opposition from the people around you.
There must be a strong desire to change, build new habits and improve. You must be strong  enough to resist any laziness, desire to give up and the ridicule or opposition from family, friends or colleagues.

Personal experience
From my own experience I have been drawn to self improvement techniques from an early age, and have regarded them as a source for inner strength, happiness and a way to a better life. But there were always things that kept be away from my full potentials. Fortunately one day I discovered a secret.  It consisted of watching how people behaved and acted in various situations, and then looking inside myself, to find out if I behaved in the same way under the same conditions. Don't forget it is in bad times that you discover your true potentials. I have discovered that self improvement improves your life at all levels.

When I saw people with certain traits of character, or a certain kind of behaviour that I did not like, I examined myself to see whether I possessed these traits. If I did, I visualised and rehearsed in my mind a different sort of behaviour. In my mind's eye, I saw myself with the opposite traits of character. I visualised myself in various situations, in which I manifested the new behaviour. It is important to know what is right and what is wrong. Never hurt someone physically or mentally.

When I encountered traits of character or behaviour, which I liked, I used to think about their advantages and benefits, and about their importance in my life. Here too, I used visualisation and affirmations, and endeavoured to enact them in my daily life. You must always be on the look out for why people generally like such and such people. What is special in them that you don't have.

By observations I have learnt and benefited a lot from the behaviour and actions of the people around me, at work, at home, in the street and everywhere else, from people in real life, and from watching people on the screen. It was never for the purpose of judging them or taking advantage of them, but for learning how to act, react and behave in a better way. This process had another benefit. It increased the knowledge about how the mind and thoughts influence the behaviour and actions of people.

Follow these techniques for Self Improvement

1. Look around you and watch how people behave in various circumstances. Watch the people you meet at home, work, at the market, on the bus, train and on the street. Watch and learn also from people interviewed on TV, and also from movies.

2. Watch how people talk, walk and react, and how they are consequently, treated by others.

3. You must pay close attention to the following:  the way people use their voice and how they react to others' voices; watch how you feel and act when people shout or speak softly. Watch what happens when people get angry, restless and upset and what happens if they are calm and relaxed.

4. Make a self criticism of yourself. If you do not like what you see, analyse what and why you do not like it, and then analyse your own behaviour to find out whether you behave in the same way. Be honest and impartial in your analysis.

5. When you discover that you possess some of these undesirable traits of character and behaviour, affirm to yourself often, that every time you express these traits or behaviour, you are going to be aware of same, and do your best to avoid them.

6. In your mind you must constantly have a scene of how you would like to behave. Keep playing that scene in your mind. Repeat it several times a day, every day.

7. Imitation is the goal to success. When you detect in someone a sort of behaviour or character traits you like and desire to possess, try to act in a similar way.

8. You can also decide to change some habits and behaviour patterns and develop new ones, because you believe they are necessary and beneficial, even without seeing them in others first.

9. You must constantly think  and visualise over and again in your mind how you would like to act and behave. Constantly remind yourself of the changes you desire to make, and strive to act according to them. Every time that you find yourself acting according to your old habit, remember your decision to change and improve, and act accordingly.

10. There will be times that you will be  disappointed or frustrated if you do not attain fast results. Set same aside, it does not matter how many times you fail or forget to behave as you desired. Perseverance and looking forward will ultimately lead you to your ultimate goal.
